Managing Environment Discovery
In the portal, discovery is managed through the scheduler container modal.
To get there:
- Open the Environments tab from the main, left-hand navigation.
- Select the environment from the first column.
- Scroll down the environment dashboard and click on the Manage button next to Discovery.
Discovery Dashboard
Gives users a high level look at telemetry, lookups, settings, and current container state.
DNS Telemetry and Recent Lookups
Both of these tools give more information about recent lookups displayed in slightly different and independently useful ways.
The lookups graph shows all lookups, made by discovery, from the last 36 hours.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Lookups | The number of DNS lookups performed. |
Cached | The number of cached DNS responses returned. |
Failed | The number of DNS lookup failures. |
Below this is the recent lookups table which focuses on more granular data over a shorter time-frame with row entries.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Domain | The domain for which the DNS lookup was performed. |
Question | The type of DNS record queried, such as A for IPv4 address or AAAA for IPv6. |
Lookups | DNS lookups defined above. |
Discovery Settings
Alongside settings for high availability and auto update, user can set an empty set delay and custom resolvers.
Discovery Config
In the portal, the discovery configuration page gives the user a space to configure the custom host resolver settings for the discovery service.
Field | Description |

Domain | The domain to resolve . |
IPv4 | List of IPv4 addresses to return. |
IPv6 | List of IPv6 addresses to return. |
